Insider visitor's tip: Get a rental car. You'll need it. Whether you rent in Phoenix and drive yourself, or take a shuttle to Flagstaff and then rent a car with you arrive, you are going to need your own transportation. Flagstaff is a walkable city in many ways, especially downtown, but Flagstaff's hotels, bed & breakfasts and vacation rentals are dotted around the spread-out city in several different areas of interest, such as Downtown, West Flagstaff, NAU campus, East Flagstaff and along Route 66. You'll need a car to travel between areas inside the city limits, as well as to explore surrounding attractions such as the Grand Canyon, Wupatki and Sunset Crater National Monuments, area State Parks and more. There IS a bus system (Mountain Line) in Flagstaff, but a rental car is the most convenient and practical choice for getting around Flagstaff.

Flagstaff Pullium Airport has been expanding the cities and number of flights into Flagstaff. Car Rental companies have been adjusting hours to accommodate this growth. If you have a late flight into Flagstaff or need to return the vehicle outside of operating hours, please call the rental company to inquire about updated hours. If you rent a car through the rental car link below with your preferred hours of car rental, it will only provide car companies and options that can accommodate your rental needs.
